This older medium maturity variety has proven to be a top-yielder in all environments. However, the disease package and standability rating makes SW Salute a better choice for lower rainfall areas, where it has few equals. Seed quality is well above average and is very acceptable in the food processing markets. Consistent top-end performance (regardless of yield level) in western ND, Montana , and South Dakota make it very difficult to rationalize not planting this variety in these expanding growing regions. Unfortunately, because of its age, seed producers have abandoned this variety, opting for newer potential replacements instead. However, a sizeable customer base has communicated that they have found no suitable replacement for them, and have asked us to resurrect the variety. So check back with us again next year for a new supply. |
