Boreal is an awned variety bred for the northern plains. It produces broad leaves, has excellent
forage and grazing qualities, and produces high tonnage yields. Boreal possesses excellent
winter-hardiness. According to university testing, Boreal is one of if not the highest
yielding both in regard to grain (NDSU) and forage (NDSU & MSU). Boreal’s grain qualities
also are making it a “requested by name” variety for the triticale grain merchandisers.
