ARVIKA Pea + Haybet Barley

 

Information
  For those preferring barley over oats for forage. Haybet is a hooded (awnless) barley variety
that lends itself to foraging better than do traditional barley varieties. Like Morton oat, Haybet pairs well with Arvika timing-wise for hay. Standability may not be as good as the pea & oat mixes. Advantages:
Advantages
  Maintains forage quality into later maturity stages better than do the oats. Although still a concern, barley tends not to be as problematic as oats regarding high nitrates.
Adapted Area
  Better adaptation to moisture-limiting western production areas.
