DS-Admiral

Unauthorized Propagation Prohibited – PVPA 1994 Title V – U.S. Protected Variety

To be sold by variety name only as a class of certified seed.

DS-Admiral is the pea that processors ask for by name. It combines a sound disease package, competitive yields, standability, and processor-preferred characteristics. A uniform, very round seed and low green count make DS-Admiral the most highly sought after variety by processors.  The combination of those characteristics make it the most tried and true yellow variety in the industry. This broadly adapted variety offers powdery mildew resistance and great vine strength, especially when deadripe. Beware of competitive claims of their new varieties having “Admiral Quality.” Only DS-Admiral can give you that, so don’t settle for a look-alike that in the end falls short.

Durwood

Unauthorized Propagation Prohibited -PVPA 1994 Title V -U.S. Protected Variety-Pending.

To be sold by variety name only as a class of certified seed.

Durwood will rapidly become known for its excellent standability and harvest ease. Throughout 6 years of testing in Canada and the US Durwood has constantly exhibited this inherent trait. Combined with a yield potential over DS Admiral Durwood will garner its share of the yellow pea market in western ND and MT. Visual quality of the seed is not quite as smooth and round as DS Admiral or SW Midas but it will still work nicely for whole pea bulk markets or fractionation. Seed size is usually between DS Admiral and Mystique. Available in very limited quantities in 2015.

Korando

Unauthorized Propagation Prohibited – PVPA 1994 Title V – U.S. Protected Variety

To be sold by variety name only as a class of certified seed.

Korando is a high yielding yellow pea that will become the new standard for yellow field pea growers in Montana and the western Dakotas. Although, Korando is not quite as smooth or round as DS-Admiral; it is perfectly acceptable quality for elevators and processors making bulk shipments and fulfilling food-aid program orders (Food For Peace). Korando is one of the earliest varieties to flower, while maturing at about the same pace as most other yellow pea varieties. This is a unique quality and gives it one of the longest bloom durations available, which in turn generates extreme standability and broad adaptation. The early flowering also helps to avoid unseasonably early heat, which is a plus for western territories. The long bloom duration can help make up for lost ground if conditions improve subsequently, such as a timely rain, and then produce high yields.

We are proud to release LG Amigo as one of our new yellow field peas for 2018! LG Amigo has previously been tested as “LGPN 4244” in many statewide variety trials. To be sold by variety name only as a class of certified seed.

SW Midas has an extremely durable seed coat – one of its greatest strengths, and improved powdery mildew resistance. SW Midas’s uniform, smooth round seed makes it desirable to the food processing channels. Like DS-Admiral, SW Midas is broadly adapted from East to West, North to South, and high to lower yielding environments. Midas has developed its largest fan base in the southern and western growing regions. SW Midas was among the highest yielding yellow peas through variety trial testing done at the 2013 Carrington NDSU Research Station, and came in 5.5 bushels/acre above the trial mean average!
